CALIFORNIA ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

In March we took our first trip to the California Academy of Sciences located in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. We went with Ong and Ba Ngoai and Amy, Uncle Mikey and Natalie and everyone had lots of fun. We left the house a lot later than planned and parking was challenging to say the least, so if you go, leave early in the morning! We drove around for about 40 minutes before finding a parking spot. Ticket prices can be a little high so if you want to save, be on the lookout for tickets on Craigslist. The Academy houses an aquarium, planetarium, 4-story rainforest, natural history museum and more, showcasing a multitude of habitats. Some of our favorites from the Academy of Sciences was the albino alligator and the descent from the rainforest canopy down into the flooded Amazon basin by way of elevator. Meta and Noah enjoyed the young children’s play area while Augie, Eli and Daddy watched the planetarium show. Tickets are free to the planetarium but limited – another reason to visit early. Another tip: the rainforest gets really hot and humid so be prepared to shed some layers as you make your way up to the canopy. The Academy of Sciences is a great place to further pique children’s interest in science and allow them to see up close the wonders of nature.

LITTLE ONES AT THE SAN JOSE BIKE PARTY AT SHORTY FATZ

The starting point to the San Jose Bike Party on June 18 was located at the Shorty Fatz parking lot where we had set up a table. We took the little ones along and a photographer named Alexander Bauzon took a picture of the babies riding in their wagon. They brought their trikes along and I’ll be posting some of our own photos soon. Thanks for the photo!

YOUNG AUGERELLI – “SANTA BRINGS PRESENTS”

AUGIE’S PHOTOS – ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL

I finally bought our first point and shoot digital camera about half a year ago because it’s not exactly practical to lug around a digital SLR with three little ones in tow. Obviously the picture quality is not as refined but the compactness of point and shoots definitely increase usability. Regrettably,  before I purchased our new camera I missed out on a lot of moments that could have been captured and when deciding upon a digital camera I was looking for a model that was waterproof, shockproof, dust proof and capable of capturing HD video. Basically a camera that I could take anywhere without worry; one that would not be easily destroyed by curious little hands or a baby’s mouth. I’ll be doing a full review on the camera soon, but I wanted to mention its features because it is extremely kid-proof in my opinion.
