DEZO EMPIRE

dezo-empire

Dezo Empire is one of the few streetwear brands for children that are  currently out there and its founder, Julio “Dezo” Patino and I share similar stories. Before becoming parents, we both were painting trains, but on opposite coasts – I was hitting up freight cars on the West Coast and he decorating the NY transit system on the East. Read More…

CLOUT x COPE2 | BEHIND THE SCENES

hs_clout_cope_whoawah

Here’s Noah, helping out his mama with the product photography. Available in adult sizes Medium – 3X, the limited edition t-shirt features an old school subway train painted by New York graffiti writer and legend Cope2. When designing the tee, I decided to print this specific Cope train because it is just so classic! It’s dated 1984 – I was one at the time! I went with a large print to make it in your face, just like Cope’s work is.  The limited edition label features Cope2′s famous throw-up over the Clout logo with a “Kings Destroy” tag underneath. Only 72 pieces were made.

Cope2 is also a dad and is featured in our latest issue of Clout. Order yours from Clout Online here and get a free copy of Clout #11. Let me know what you think…

clout_cope_mens_zoomCope’s been writing for 30 years!

MUNIPALS | NEW YORK CITY SUBWAY TRAINS FOR KIDS

munipals_high_gloss1

“When you first against a train, it’s like everything seems so big, like, wow! It’s like you’re in a yard of like metal giant, like I mean everything is like so hard and so steel like you’re just there. You’re like a little dude like in the midst of these metals and like you’re here to produce something, well, like you’re here to try to produce something. ” -KING DONDI (RIP), “Style Wars”.

You don’t have to be a graffiti writer to appreciate the magic that NYC subways possess. Officially licensed by the MTA, you can set aside those Thomas trains and buy some clean trains for your little ones. ” Munipals offers quality, solid-wood toys and toy sets that allow children to safely play and recreate in a reality-based, yet imaginary, world of their own making.”  Created by designer and father Stephen Fay, Munipals was developed in coordination with the  New York City Transit System and at $9.95 each, you can collect all the lines at an affordable price. All trains are compatible with standard wooden tracks. Click here to check out Munipals’ online store.

Now if only someone would make wooden freight trains, like boxcars and holy rollers,  so my kids will stop breaking my model trains.

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE…

And so is whatever this kid had. But seriously, poor kid. You can’t make this shit up. With almost 2 million views in 4 days of the “David After Dentist” video, 7-year old David is now, I’d say, a YouTube star and Internet sensation. As a way to calm him after having a tooth extracted last summer, David’s dad busted out his video camera. Who would’ve thought that a routine visit to the dentist would garner this much attention. David’s dad states that he’s now doing fine and his teeth are great.

BAMBU | SEVEN MONTHS

MOMMY AND DADDY BLOGGERS

Here’s a Momversation video featuring some of my favorite mom bloggers discussing how they censor their blogs. Three and a half years ago, before I became a mama, I wasn’t as home much and didn’t spend as much time on the Internet as I do now. Back then, I didn’t even know what a blog was. When Augie was born I discovered the wonderful world of mom blogs while searching for topics such as umbilical cord care, engorgement and attachment parenting.  I used to be an extremely private person and was intrigued by the throngs  of moms that shared their lives through words and photos online. I’m relatively new to this mommy blogging thing and if you are too check out some of my favorite blogs by parents after the jump. Read More…

SHEPARD FAIREY ON THE COLBERT REPORT

Street artist and father of two, Shepard Fairey, appeared on The Colbert Report this past Thursday, January 15. He discusses his famous “Hope” poster for Barack Obama’s campaign in the video clip. Many years back I met him in San Francisco and it’s crazy to now see how far he’s taken his propaganda. Visit Obey Giant.
